How Do I Join?

Trinity Lodge welcomes membership enquiries but it is important that you appreciate what will be required of you, so that you can appreciate the value of Freemasonry to modern society, and the role that it can play in your own self-improvement. A lot of this is summed up in Freemasonry’s Guiding Principles.

In the first instance it is suggested that you visit the section ‘Freemasonry’ and if after visiting and exploring our site and maybe reading other articles you are further interested in becoming a Freemason, we suggest you first talk to a friend, colleague or family member whom you already know to be a Freemason; they will be able to help you learn more.

If you don’t know anyone who is already a Freemason, then get in touch with  us at Trinity Lodge. You will need to explain a little bit about yourself and your reasons for wishing to join. Arrangements will be made to meet you socially to find out more about you, and to give you a chance to find out more about us. You would then in due course be invited to meet more of our lodge members, prior to being balloted for membership of the Lodge. All being well, a date would then be fixed for your admission.

Who Can Be A Freemason?

Anyone is eligible to become a Freemason as long as they are at least 18 years old, are law-abiding, of good character and believe in the existence of a Supreme Being, regardless of what faith the person professes. Trinity Lodge is a part of the United Grand Lodge of England, which is a male-only Grand Lodge. There are two Grand Lodges for Women Freemasons in England, The Order of Women Freemasons and the Honourable Fraternity of Ancient Freemasons (Freemasonry for Women). Coventry has a lodge under the Honourable Fraternity of Ancient Freemasons for women, with which we work closely, and the Order of Women Freemasons have a lodge nearby in Warwick.

Freemasonry  is open to all faiths and their denominations.  No atheist can become a Freemason, and we do not discuss religion or religious topics in our meetings or social gatherings. We respect each person’s right to believe and practice their religion as they chose.

Trinity Lodge has members from most major Christian denominations, and also members of other religions. The largest faith represented after Christianity in our lodge is the Sikh faith.

In addition to not discussing religion. t is also a similar ancient protocol and principle that members do not discuss politics. In fact any topics that may make people feel uncomfortable are avoided – as the happiness and harmony of our meetings is a key attraction, and respect of individuals is a key guiding principle.

Finally, members must never use their membership of Freemasonry as a means of gaining preferment for themselves or any other person. Any attempt to do so could, and does, result in expulsion from membership

Likewise members must also fully respect the laws of the Country, and their professional or trade bodies.
